🌿 Light: Most Philodendrons prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate lower light conditions, but their growth might slow down. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
💧 Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Philodendrons prefer consistently moist but not waterlogged soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure pots have good drainage.
💦 Humidity: These plants enjoy moderate to high humidity but can adapt to lower household levels. If your environment is dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a pebble tray.
🌡️ Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect Philodendrons from drafts and extreme temperature changes.
🌱 Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix intended for aroids, containing peat, perlite, and/or orchid bark, works well.
🌱 Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Reduce fertilization in fall and winter.
🔄 Pruning: Pruning can control size and shape and encourage fuller growth. Remove any yellow or damaged leaves as necessary.
🍃 Pests and Diseases: Keep an eye out for pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids. Proper care usually prevents most issues.
Propagation: Many Philodendrons can be easily propagated from stem cuttings placed in water or soil. Ensure cuttings include at least one leaf and one node.
